The Open Circle
The circle symbol meaning is universal, sacred and divine. It represents the infinite nature of energy, and the inclusivity of the universe. It has no beginning and it has no end. Each person who is gathered in the circle is of equal importance. The circle invites you to step inside to experience unity, centering, nurturing and transformation.
“God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” ~Hermes Trismegistus
The Golden Spiral plays a harmonizing role in the Universe. It represents two well known shapes in sacred geometry: the golden mean or golden ratio spiral and the Fibonacci spiral. The unique thing about the golden mean is that it seems to be a geometrical blueprint for life itself and can be found incorporated in all known organic structures; from the bone structure of human beings to the seed pattern of a sunflower to the many chambers of the nautilus. The golden mean was used in the design of sacred buildings in ancient architecture to produce spiritual energy that facilitated connectivity with spiritual realms through prayer.
“My new Hypothesis: If we’re built from Spirals while living in a giant Spiral, then is it possible that everything we put our hands to is infused with the Spiral?” ~Max Cohen in the motion picture Pi
The five pointed star can represent the human being as a whole. The top point of the star that points up represents the soul or the head of the being or the Spiritual Realm. The other points are the limbs of the human being. Also, in other nature-based spiritualities, the five pointed star represents the Five Sacred Things or Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Spirit. The “Spirit” points upwards toward the Divine Cosmos. A six pointed star when surrounded by a circle represents the “divine mind”.
“To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don’t worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest.”
